Prayer Is Discerning the Will of God
사무엘상 24:1-7 · 1 Samuel 24:1-7

다윗은 특별히 잘못한 일이 없는데도 사울의 시기와 미움을 사서 도망자가 되었습니다. 사울은 다윗을 죽이려고 3,000명의 군사와 함께 쫓아다녔습니다.
David had done nothing particularly wrong. Yet he incurred Saul's jealousy and hatred, and in the end he fled to escape Saul's eyes.

동굴에서 사울을 만난 다윗 앞에는 절호의 기회가 있었습니다. 사울을 죽이면 모든 문제가 해결되고, 왕의 자리도 차지할 수 있었습니다.
David could eliminate Saul. If he killed Saul, every problem would be solved — and he could take the throne.

다윗은 사울을 죽이지 않았습니다. 겉옷자락만 잘랐을 뿐인데도 양심에 가책을 받고 고백했습니다. 하나님께서 세우신 임금을 어떻게 치겠는가.
David did not kill Saul. Though he had cut only the corner of Saul's robe, his conscience struck him.

다윗을 통해 주시는 세 가지 교훈:

1. 문제보다 하나님께 집중하십시오. 문제를 보면 조급해지지만, 하나님을 보면 평안해집니다.
   Focus on God rather than the problem. Looking at the problem makes us impatient; looking at God brings peace.
2. 내 이익보다 하나님의 뜻을 구하십시오. "이것이 나에게 유익한가"가 아니라 "이것이 하나님의 뜻인가"를 물었습니다.
   Seek God's will above your own advantage. David asked not "Is this profitable for me?" but "Is this the will of God?"
3. 사람들의 이야기 속에서도 하나님의 음성을 분별하십시오. 다수의 의견이 곧 하나님의 뜻은 아닙니다.
   Discern the voice of God even in the words of people. The majority opinion is not necessarily the will of God.
